The MQG exists because of its members. It grew out of the thriving online community of modern quilters and their desire to start meeting in person. As many of you know, the founding guild was formed in Los Angeles in October of 2009. Through blogs and the Internet, word spread quickly of the fun they were having and soon guilds started popping up everywhere.
Today after just one week of membership being open we already have over 1,100 members!
We cannot say THANK YOU enough to you, our members, for your support, kind words, and excitement as we have launched membership and our new online community. It’s already buzzin’ over there on the Community site!
Feeling a little sentimental about how it all started we took a look back at the first blog post. Here are a few photos of one of the early Los Angeles MQG meetings.
We have grown so much as a guild and an organization and without all of you it would not have been possible!
There are still many exciting things to come for our members over the next few months. With Philadelphia SewDowns just a short time away ($750 all inclusive membership price! register now!), more enhancements to our Community site, and QuiltCon 2015 planning just beginning, we are all staying very busy and we’re thrilled that so many of you are along for the ride!
