QuiltCon Block Challenge Deadline is Approaching!

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be posting photos of the fabulous blocks that have been submitted for the QuiltCon Block Challenge, including this one from Pat Hildebrand.

If you haven’t already submitted a block, there’s still time! In order to be considered for inclusion in the fundraiser quilt, block packages must be postmarked by August 15, 2012. If you’re sending blocks from outside the US, please consider mailing them sooner, as it can be difficult to predict how long international mail will take.

As you prepare to send your entries, I want to make one quick request. Please avoid stapling the entry forms to the blocks, as staples can be difficult to remove without damaging the fabric. Instead, you can attach your entry forms with pins or place them inside a plastic bag along with the appropriate block.

Do you need fabric for your block(s)? Some of our QuiltCon sponsors have color-coordinated fabric bundles available. (Scroll down to see them at the bottom of the page, here.)

We look forward to seeing your blocks!

  1. I’m blown away by Pam’s block! Wow! I’ve just sent off a package of blocks made by members of the Vancouver Modern Quilt Guild. Looking forward to seeing other submissions!

  2. This block is fabulous but I thought the rules said piecing only, no appliqué. Did I misunderstand?

    • You’re absolutely right, Leslie. I have to admit that I liked this block so much that I didn’t consider that. However, you’re correct that it doesn’t technically meet the rules of the challenge, so it will not be included in the raffle quilt. (Still great to look at though! She did a fabulous job of replicating the QuiltCon logo.)
