What better way to finish off the Week of Blocks than with a new block tutorial?
The Octagonal Orb Block was adapted from a fabulous pillow designed by Heather Bostic. The fact that it’s made with bunches of 2-1/2″ pieces makes it perfect for scrap busting or using precut fabrics.

Wow, thank you! There are lots of possibilities with this block.
Thank you for shocking me into trying something new and different I can’t wait to start!
What an absolutely fabulous block! A great stash buster – and don’t you love when something looks like it’s going to be complicated to put together and some very clever person (thank you Elizabeth H.) makes it sooo much simpler. I believe I have a new project to complete on this dreary day π
Total WOW. And very nice tutorial by Elizabeth. Thank you!

Elizabeth! You continue to amaze me with your creativity and innovative designs. I am now printing the tute and hot off the presses will run up to my sewing room to sew a block. Been looking for a black/white/grey block with lots of movement and a touch of brights. This is it! Love it!
It’s like a modern version of wagon wheel – very cool!

Heather and Elizabeth — two great (and creative) minds that go great together! Can’t wait to make one of these blocks!
This is a great block! I love that it’s not paper pieced-which I thought it would be. Easy peasy instructions. I’m anxious to have the time to make a quilt with this block.
